US Nuclear Program to Boost Fuel Supplies for Advanced Reactors

The Biden administration is officially launching a program intended to spur US enrichment of nuclear fuel for advanced reactors.

But the program’s funding of $500 million is far short of what the White House and industry supporters have said is needed to make it effective, raising questions about how the Energy Department will manage to scale up domestic sources of the fuel currently sourced from Russia.
