US Nuclear Industry Wants to ‘Step Away’ From Russian Uranium

The US nuclear industry supports giving up Russian supplied uranium and reactor fuel, but wants to ensure there is a domestic fuel supply in place to replace it, the head of the nation’s largest nuclear trade group said Friday.

“We support no longer doing business with Russia,” Maria Korsnick, the president of the Nuclear Energy Institute, said in an interview from the group’s Washington headquarters. “We have industry alignment to step away from Russia, but you have to step away to something.”
