US Issues Orders to Keep Two Indiana Coal Plants Operational

US Energy Secretary Chris Wright issued emergency orders to keep two Indiana coal plants operational, according to an emailed statement.

• Orders direct CenterPoint Energy, Northern Indiana Public Service Company and Midcontinent Independent System Operator to take “all measures necessary” to ensure specified generation units at both the F.B. Culley and R.M. Schahfer generating stations are available to operate, according to the statement
• Orders are in effect from Dec. 23 until March 23, 2026
