A former mill operator in Ohio’s Cuyahoga Valley National Park will pay a net $16.5 million to settle a lawsuit over the cleanup of hazardous materials on the site now owned by the government.
Paddock Enterprises LLC agreed to pay a total of $33 million while the US agreed to reimburse the company $16.5 million for restoration work done to remedy hazardous contamination from the Jaite Paper Mill Site, according to a proposed consent decree filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.
