US Delays Sale of Offshore Wind Leases as Political Risk Mounts

The Biden administration is scrapping a planned sale of two offshore wind leases near Oregon, citing “insufficient bidder interest,” the second such cancellation this year.

  • At least five companies previously had expressed interest in the October auction
  • The Interior Dept’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management said it would look to determine “a future opportunity for a potential lease sale” in coordination with state, tribal governments and other stakeholders
