The cancer-causing potential of a chemical used in agriculture and to make explosives, polyurethane foam, synthetic dyes, varnishes, and stabilizers for the rubber industry will be reviewed by a World Health Organization agency in 2020.
The chemical, aniline, is the most widely produced member of a group of industrial compounds that the WHO’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) will evaluate. U.S. producers of aniline have included the BASF Corp., DowDuPont, and Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.
