U.K., Germany to Provide $153 Million to Protect Brazil Forests

The U.K. and Germany will provide about 130 million euros ($153 million) to help Brazil reduce deforestation and protect the health of forests.

The financial cooperation agreements were announced at the annual United Nations conference on climate change in Bonn, according to a Nov. 14 statement from Brazil’s government.

“Protecting the world’s vital forest biomes cannot be achieved by one nation alone, so we warmly welcome these new agreements,” Brazil’s Minister of the Environment Jose Sarney Filho said in the statement.
