WASHINGTON, D.C.—The U.S. geothermal industry continued to show steady growth in 2011, adding 91 megawatts of capacity and bringing the U.S. total to 3,187 MW, the Geothermal Energy Association said in a report issued April 3.
Significant geothermal energy projects have been constructed in eight states—Alaska, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Wyoming, according to the Annual U.S. Geothermal Power Production and Development Report.
Geothermal projects are in the pipeline for another seven states—Arizona, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Texas, and Washington.
