U.S., EU LNG Deal to Fuel Global Fight for Every Last Molecule

America’s push to boost supplies of liquefied natural gas to Europe is set to leave some of the world’s top buyers in Asia hunting for cargoes, igniting a global fight for every last molecule.

The U.S. said it will work with international partners to supply Europe with an additional 15 billion cubic meters of the super-chilled fuel this year in a bid to displace Russian gas. But that’s only about 10 days of European consumption and will only be possible if the continent continues to pay more than buyers from Japan to South Korea and Pakistan.
