The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is creating a senior-level position focused on environmental justice and equity issues, Chair Richard Glick announced Thursday.
The person tapped for the role will work across the agency with all FERC offices to incorporate environmental justice and equity concerns from traditionally underserved communities into the commission’s decisions, according to a FERC press release.
“This position is not just a title,” Glick said in a statement. “I intend to do what it takes to empower this new position to ensure that environmental justice and equity concerns finally get the attention they deserve.”
