U.K. Oil and Gas Authority Wins Climate Suit on Fossil Fuel Plan

The U.K.’s Oil and Gas Authority won a court case brought by climate activists who said its new strategy encouraged production of fossil fuels and conflicted with net-zero targets.

  • Judge Sara Cockerill said campaigners Mikaela Loach, Kairin van Sweeden and Jeremy Cox’s claims failed and dismissed the suit
  • Cockerill said it was common ground the agency had “taken steps to reduce the industry’s carbon footprint” and “the driving reason for the review was to integrate net zero,” according to the judgment
