Trump’s Layoffs Hit 14 Workers in CDC Immunization Division

The Trump administration’s mass layoffs of health workers hit a key vaccine unit of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, according to people familiar with the matter.

Fourteen full-time workers were laid off from the CDC’s Immunization Services Division, where 150 to 200 employees oversee vaccine education and access programs. Five of the workers handled communications, the people said.

The cuts were among nearly 1,300 layoffs at the CDC last weekend, coming just after Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was confirmed as head of the Department of Health and Human Services, which oversees the Atlanta-based CDC. ...
