Trump’s Hawaii Commercial Fishing Proclamation Targeted in Suit

President Donald Trump‘s proclamation opening the Pacific Islands Heritage Marine National Monument to commercial fishing violates several environmental laws, including the Antiquities Act, environmental groups alleged in lawsuit Thursday.

The “Unleashing American Commercial Fishing in the Pacific” proclamation, signed in April, illegally revokes protections outlined from previous presidents’ designations of tribal waters, groups said in a complaint filed with the US District Court for the District of Hawai‘i.
