Trump Proposes Slashing Army Corps of Engineers Funds by a Third

The Trump administration wants to cut funding to the Army Corps of Engineers next year by nearly $2.2 billion from the amount Congress gave it for the current fiscal year.

Under the administration’s proposal, the Corps would receive $4.8 billion in the coming fiscal year.

The annual budget proposal, which needs congressional approval before going into effect, says the Corps’ current approach toward building water infrastructure projects “often do not deliver benefits in either a timely or cost-effective manner.”
