Trump Opens More Land to Oil With Sage-Grouse, Alaska Plans (1)

Trump administration decisions to revise greater sage-grouse habitat in Western states and reopen a large swath of the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska to drilling will give the oil and gas industry greater access to public lands.

The Bureau of Land Management on Monday approved an oil and gas drilling plan for the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska that effectively reinstates a 2020 plan from the first Trump administration. The plan opens about 82% of the 23 million acre reserve to oil and gas leasing ahead of a planned lease sale expected sometime this winter.
