Trump Officials Won’t Defend Obama Methane Rule for Public Lands

The Trump administration won’t defend an Obama-era rule to cut methane emissions from oil and gas development on public and tribal lands, saying the Bureau of Land Management made legal errors when it crafted the regulation in 2016.

Justice Department lawyers representing the agency acknowledged the error Tuesday in a brief to the U.S. District Court for the District of Wyoming.
