Mining industry and environmental attorneys are gearing up for legal challenges to President Donald Trump’s orders issued this week that attempt to revive the coal industry, specifically the one on leasing.

Trump’s executive order affecting coal leasing reverses an Interior Department moratorium on issuing new leases and attempts to remove many constraints to coal production on federal land by directing the department to prioritize coal production and use as many emergency authorities as possible to do so.
