Trump Administration Appeals Court Order Axing Wind Lease Pause

The Justice Department is challenging a lower court decision allowing a coalition of states to move forward in their lawsuit saying the Trump administration unlawfully paused offshore wind leasing.

The US District Court for the District of Massachusetts in December vacated President Donald Trump’s executive order temporarily withdrawing the outer continental shelf from wind leasing. The lower court decision was a win for New York, California, more than a dozen other states, and the District of Columbia that sued the Trump administration in May for halting federal offshore and onshore wind approvals.
