A federal judge in Nevada said she won’t consider her previous order allowing Lithium Nevada Corp. to continue with its plan to build a mine near Thacker Pass, Nev., even though tribes said new evidence shows a massacre likely took place near the site.
This new evidence “further highlights the shameful history of the treatment of Native Americans by federal and state governments,” according to the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada. However, it’s too speculative to show the mine will cause irreparable harm at this stage, Chief Judge Miranda M. Du said Monday.
