Tribal Corporation Exits Alaska Road Project, Jeopardizing Mines

A key landowner and partner in a proposed northern Alaska mining road that would tap billions of pounds of critical minerals for renewables and electric vehicles said this week it would pull out of the project, casting the road’s future in doubt.

NANA Regional Corp. Inc., an Alaska Native corporation, said it intends to withdraw from the state of Alaska’s Ambler Access Project, a 211-mile private gravel road planned to be built across part of Gates of the Arctic National Preserve and other federal, state, and tribal land.
