Tire Companies Lose Effort to Pause Endangered Species Lawsuit

A California federal judge on Wednesday denied a group of tire companies’ motion for a stay in an Endangered Species Act citizen suit against them for making tires using chemicals that are thought to kill salmon.

The Institute for Fisheries Resources and the Pacific Coast Federation of Fishermen’s Associations sued Continental Tire the Americas LLC and other tire manufacturers in 2023 for making tires using a compound known as 6PPD.
