Texas Justices Split on VW, Audi Bid to Toss Emission Suit (1)

Texas justices seemed divided on whether the state’s courts are the proper place to hear a lawsuit over Volkswagen AG and Audi AG’s alleged “diesel cheat” software update, which has already resulted in a $20 billion settlement with the EPA.

The cases involve a yearslong scandal stemming from Volkswagen and Audi allegedly optimizing their vehicles’ software to allow it to evade EPA diesel emission standards. The companies uploaded the software to a server in Germany that synchronized with a “mirror” server in the US to evade emission standards.
