Texas Grid Launches Public Alert System Ahead of Summer Heat

Electric Reliability Council of Texas launched a new alert notification system to warn the public of potential emergency conditions to protect against outages, CEO Pablo Vegas says in a press briefing.

  • Ercot will for the first time provide weather watches 3-5 days in advance, which Vegas expects to be issued frequently this summer
  • Voluntary conservation notices may be issued to help prevent emergencies, but Vegas doesn’t expect to see more than usual
