Tests Show PFAS From Fire Foam in People Near New Mexico Base

The blood of New Mexico residents who’ve lived or worked near Cannon Air Force Base has the types of PFAS used in firefighting foam, according to results from a state monitoring program.

The New Mexico Environment Department and New Mexico Department of Health released on Wednesday the results of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) blood tests they conducted last year for 628 people in Curry County, a rural area with farms that abut the Air Force base.
