Tesla Sued for Alleged Hazardous Waste Violations in California

Tesla Inc. has repeatedly mishandled hazardous waste at 101 facilities across California, district attorneys representing 25 counties claimed in a lawsuit filed in state court.

The electric vehicle maker failed to properly label the toxic waste—like aerosols, brake fluids, lead acid batteries, diesel fuel and other hazardous materials—and then discarded it into dumpsters and compactors at its facilities, the district attorneys said.

Tesla knew about its violations but failed to take any steps to correct them, the suit said.

Tesla didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
