The daughter of a mechanic who worked for the city of Pasadena waited too long to file claims that she developed mesothelioma from exposure to asbestos on her father’s work clothes, a California appeals court ruled (City of Pasadena v. Superior Court of Los Angeles Cty., 2017 BL 219050, Cal. Ct. App., 2d Dist., B280805, 6/26/17).
Sandra Jauregui’s suit is untimely because it was filed more than six months after she was diagnosed with mesothelioma, the court said.
The court rejected Jauregui’s argument that the statute of limitations hadn’t begun, and wouldn’t begin, until she was disabled.
