COPENHAGEN—A reorganization of the way Sweden’s water protection policies are planned and implemented has resulted in the formation of a new Marine and Water Authority (SwAM) and the disbanding of the Swedish Board of Fisheries. Based in the city of Gothenburg, SwAM will take over the work of the fisheries board as well as much of the Environmental Protection Agency’s marine and water protection duties, EPA said June 20. While some issues relating to both land and water will remain part of the EPA’s remit, EPA said, expert responsibility for both marine and freshwater issues will be transferred to SwAM. ...
