The U.S. Supreme Court won’t take up a yearslong dispute over a New Mexico power plant and nearby coal mine, despite pleas from environmentalists and tribal advocates.
The justices on Monday rejected a petition from Diné Citizens Against Ruining Our Environment and four other groups that asked the high court to reverse lower court decisions. Those decisions affirmed federal approvals for a lease extension for the Four Corners Power Plant, and a related expansion for the Navajo Mine.
