Supreme Court Warned of Precise Limits on Human Waste in Water

Authorities shouldn’t need a specific human waste limit to prevent sewer systems from overflowing and sending the sewage flowing down streets and into homes, a group of states argued Tuesday in a brief filed in the US Supreme Court.

California and 13 other states defended the EPA’s vague water pollution limits in separate amicus briefs filed ahead of oral arguments scheduled for Oct. 16, pitting Democratic-controlled states against Democratic-led San Francisco in a high court battle over regulatory overreach.
