Supreme Court Declines Review of Offshore Wind Project Lawsuit

The Supreme Court on Monday declined to hear a case from Massachusetts residents that claim federal agencies didn’t abide by Endangered Species Act requirements when approving offshore wind development.

Marine species’ habitats and the “charming, slow-paced community with historic structures” of Nantucket have already been negatively affected, Nantucket Residents Against Turbines said in their petition for review, pointing to a July 2024 incident where a portion of a 350-foot turbine blade broke and fell into the water before washing ashore.

The wind turbine project is expected to be able to provide power to about 400,000 homes, the group said.
