Stellantis, Toyota End Backing of Trump-Era Fight on Emissions

A trade group representing the U.S. unit of Stellantis NV, Toyota Motor Corp.and other automakers withdrew its support for a Trump administration-era effort to block California from setting its own fuel-economy rules.

The Coalition for Sustainable Automotive Regulation said it is taking the action to better align with the Biden administration’s efforts to toughen emissions rules. “In a gesture of good faith and to find a constructive path forward, the CSAR has decided to withdraw from this lawsuit in order to unify the auto industry behind a single national program,” the group said Tuesday in a statement. ...
