A group of Republican-led states can’t bring a challenge against the Biden administration’s use of interim climate metrics to estimate the costs of greenhouse gas emissions, the Fifth Circuit ruled Wednesday, finding that the group didn’t have standing to pursue their claims.
Louisiana, Texas, and eight other states claimed that they were suffering under the administration’s interim social cost of carbon estimates—which agencies use to calculate the monetary costs of impacts from burning greenhouse gases.
