Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota sent a letter to the Trump administration asking the federal government to look into whether small refiners are abusing exemptions for complying with the Renewable Fuel Standard Program.
“The possibility that refineries are gaming the system to receive government handouts when they don’t need them hurts Iowa farmers,” Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird (R), who led the letter, said in press release. “They should be investigated by the federal government to ensure that all refiners are following the rules.”
