State Legislature Approves Measures On Everglades Restoration, Nutrient Criteria

ATLANTA—The Florida Legislature passed two bills to enhance water quality in the state, one that would authorize funding to clean up and help restore the Everglades and another to help the state set numeric standards for nutrients.

The Everglades bill, H.B. 7065, would authorize $32 million per year for water quality programs in the Everglades, extend a tax on agricultural activities, and continue dedicating a portion of revenue from an ad valorem tax to help fund the restoration effort.
