State Coalition Asks Court to Stop Biden Mine Notification Rule

A group of 14 coal mining states asked a federal court on Friday to stop a final rule that expands citizens’ power to force government action on mine problems from taking effect.

The rule is already being challenged by the same states in the US District Court for the District of Columbia, but the new motion for a preliminary injunction would stop the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement from enforcing it while the lawsuit is pending.
