St. Croix Refinery Offers $17.5 Million for Water Supply Damage

St. Croix residents asked a federal court Thursday to approve a $17.4 million settlement with the current and former owners of a US Virgin Islands petroleum refinery that polluted the town’s water supply four years ago.

The all-cash settlement offered by Limetree Bay Holdings and financial firms ArcLight Capital Partners and Freepoint Commodities is a sufficient and reasonable resolution to the proposed action suit, plaintiffs told the US District Court for the District of the Virgin Islands.
