Spire STL Pipeline LLC has petitioned the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to keep its gas pipeline running in Missouri pending the agency’s court-mandated review, saying that a winter shutdown threatens the health and safety of its customers.
If the project is shut down now, it will “be impossible to replace that supply based on current conditions,” according to the company’s application filed Monday. Taking the pipeline out of service will have a disproportionate impact on vulnerable populations who depend on reliable and affordable energy, the application says.
