Spire STL Seeks a Supreme Court Stay to Maintain Gas Service

Spire STL Pipeline, facing the potential shutdown of its gas pipeline, said Monday it asked the U.S. Supreme Court to pause an appeals court ruling in June that vacated federal energy regulators’ blessing of the project.

The filing came three days after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit denied the developer’s request for a stay. Spire STL’s 65-mile pipeline, which spans Illinois and Missouri in the St. Louis metro area, is at the center of a legal dispute over whether federal officials properly considered demand for the project.
