Southeastern Utah Oil and Gas Lease Sales Draw Federal Lawsuit

The Bureau of Land Management offered 32 oil and gas leases in southeastern Utah without properly studying the impact to cultural resources and the environment, a conservation group says in a new suit filed in a Washington federal court.

The agency relied on “arbitrary, capricious, and legally inadequate efforts” to study the potential impacts in violation of the National Historic Preservation Act and National Environmental Policy Act, according to the complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
