South Carolina Company Resolves Improper Waste Management Claims

Ameresco Palmetto has agreed to pay a civil penalty of $231,000 regarding the handling and storage of hazardous waste at its facility in Wellford, S.C., the Environmental Protection Agency said Monday.

An EPA inspection found the found several potential violations of state and federal hazardous waste laws relating to the management of hazardous waste in containers and tanks, including volatile organic air emission requirements.

In addition to the civil penalty, the company certified that it has corrected all alleged noncompliance.
