Some Camp Lejeune Communities Exposed To Contaminants Longer Than Thought

RALEIGH, N.C.—Certain communities at the Camp Lejeune, N.C., Marine Corps base have been exposed to contaminated drinking water for a longer period of time than previously believed, the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry said in a recently released report.

That finding was among details in an evaluation of the extent of contamination on a portion of the base the agency included in Chapter C: Occurrence of Selected Contaminants in Groundwater at Installation Restoration Program Sites, dated October 2010. The report is one of several issued by ATSDR regarding contamination on the base.
