The concentrations of metals “are protective of human health and the marine environment,” according to the report by Ramboll Group AS, which tested the milky white effluent that flows from Solvay’s Italian soda ash plant into the Mediterranean.
The audit, which Solvay published on its website, compared the new measurements with Italian government standards for potential poisons such as mercury and lead, and found them to be within those limits.
