Solvay Agrees to Pay New Jersey $393 Million in PFAS Settlement

Solvay Specialty Polymers USA, a manufacturer of PFAS, has agreed to pay New Jersey at least $392.7 million in what the state attorney general called the largest PFAS-related financial agreement for a single site in New Jersey history.

The proposed settlement between Solvay and New Jersey’s Department of Environmental Protection relates to the company’s West Deptford facility in Gloucester County. Solvay discharged per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances into the environment, allegedly contaminating drinking water and natural resources, New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin said in a Wednesday press conference.
