Property tax exemptions for solar and other renewable power equipment could be available to Florida homeowners and businesses, including electric power utilities, beginning in 2018 after voters approved a ballot measure.
Voters approved Amendment No. 4 on Florida’s Aug. 30 primary election ballot with 72.6 percent support.
The measure makes two changes to the state constitution. One authorizes exempting renewable power devices from the real property tax assessments of any Florida property—an expansion of an existing exemption for residential properties. The second authorizes exempting renewable power devices from tangible personal property tax.
