One of the country’s largest natural gas utilities has reached a settlement with California’s attorney general after allegedly making misleading statements that its product is “renewable.”
Southern California Gas Co., which serves more than 21 million customers in the region, will pay $175,000 in penalties for a series of “unqualified marketing claims,” according to a statement from state Attorney General Rob Bonta’s office. Half of the sum will be directed to the California Environmental Protection Agency’s environmental justice grant program.
