The Sierra Club is challenging the Energy Department’s latest update to energy conservation standards for dishwashers in an effort to get rid of certain exceptions.
The environmental group asked the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in a short petition to set aside only the final rule’s exemptions from the standards, which apply to standard-size dishwashers with normal cycle times of an hour or less.
Under the Energy Policy and Conservation Act, the DOE is required to establish energy conservation standards for consumer products.
