Siemens Unit Resolves Alleged EPA Waste Management Violations

Russelectric—a Siemens Industry, Inc. business and power control system manufacturer in Hingham, Mass.—resolved alleged hazardous waste management violations with the Environmental Protection Agency, according to the agency Thursday.

The company has agreed pay a penalty of $121,546 under the terms of the settlement. In addition to the monetary resolution, the facility is now performing training and inspections compliant with state and federal laws in regards to the regulation of hazardous waste management, said the agency.

The company allegedly failed to perform weekly inspections, maintain upkeep of a chemical release contingency plan, and provide initial and refresher training for employees. ...
