Siemens Gamesa Strikes Back at GE in Lawsuit Over Wind Turbines

Siemens Gamesa filed a lawsuit accusing General Electric and its renewables unit of infringing two patents for a way to improve the performance of wind turbines and a structural support so they can be made bigger.

  • The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Tampa, targets GE’s Haliade-X series that GE has described as the largest and most powerful offshore wind turbines in the world
    • GE is planning to use the turbines in the Skipjack wind farm off the coast of Maryland and the Ocean Wind farm off the coast of New Jersey, according to the complaint
