Senators Shift to Working on Next Bill to Combat Ocean Pollution

Two Senate sponsors of the most recent bill aimed at cleaning up plastic from the oceans have already started work on the next version of the legislation.

President Donald Trump signed the Save Our Seas 2.0 Act (S. 1982) into law last week. The bill aims to boost the U.S. response to marine debris by establishing a trust fund for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, ordering federal agencies to prioritize marine debris removal, creating a prize competition for trash removal innovation, and creating a nongovernmental Marine Debris Foundation.
