Senate Republicans Grill Biden’s Science Pick on Climate, Energy

Senate Republicans used a Wednesday confirmation hearing to press the case that the substitution of natural gas for coal has been the central reason the US has cut its carbon emissions.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said it was “scientifically false” for Arati Prabhakar, the White House’s pick to be its chief science adviser, to say the emissions cuts were the result of efficiency improvements, shifts in manufacturing, and the adoption of renewable energy.
